Cherry Hills Village, Colorado: On August 04, 1981, family members of Sylvia Mae Quayle discovered her unresponsive at her residence in Cherry Hills Village. The initial investigation revealed that Sylvia’s death was due to unnatural means and was found to have been shot and stabbed to death in the living room of her home.

For 39 years, Cherry Hills Village Police Investigators and agents for the Colorado Bureau of Investigations have followed leads throughout the United States in an effort to bring justice to Sylvia, her family and friends and the Cherry Hills Village Community.

In 2019, Metro Denver Crime Stoppers partnered with Denver-based United Data Connect, a company co-founded by former Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey. United Data Connect is a recognized leader in forensic science computing and has established a reputation for its innovative approach to DNA Familial Searching and Forensic Genetic Genealogy Analysis.

Shortly after announcing the partnership between Metro Denver Crime Stoppers and United Data Connect, Investigators from Cherry Hills Village and the 18thJudicial District Attorney’s Office approached Metro Denver Crime Stoppers with the case. After reviewing the case, it was determined that the evidence in the case could contain the type of DNA that could be used to further the investigation using state-of-the-art Familial DNA investigations.

By April of 2020, United Data Connect’s top genealogist had identified a person of interest in the case however, the work didn’t stop there. The investigative authorities now had the daunting task of linking the person of interest with the horrid crime that shocked the small community of Cherry Hills Village.

After an exhaustive investigation, investigators from United Data Connect obtained a DNA sample from a person of interest identified by United Data Connect and investigators from the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office and the Cherry Hills Police Department were able to match the DNA found at the crime scene resulting in an arrest warrant being issued for David Dwayne Anderson, 62, of North Platte, Nebraska. Anderson is currently in custody and awaiting extradition back to Colorado where he will be charged and prosecuted with the murder of Ms. Quayle.

This case would have likely remained unsolved without the hard work, dedication and superior detective work by all parties involved.

If you have information about this egregious crime or David Dwayne Anderson, no matter how minuscule it may seem, please contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.
