On the evening of January 25, 2001, tragedy struck in the quiet neighborhood of Denver’s West Highland. Denver Police officers responded to a report of a shooting at 2951 Newton Street. When they arrived, they found 33-year-old Thad Tigges just inside his home, gravely wounded by multiple gunshots. Despite efforts to save him, Thad was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sudden and violent loss of Thad devastated his family, friends, and community. By all accounts, Thad was a beloved son, friend, and neighbor whose life was cut short far too soon. For more than two decades, those who knew him have carried the heavy burden of unanswered questions, grief, and the hope that one day, justice will be served.
From the very beginning, detectives with the Denver Police Department have worked tirelessly to investigate Thad’s murder. Every possible lead has been followed, but despite their ongoing efforts, no arrests have been made. The case remains open, and investigators believe that even after all these years, someone knows something that could help bring resolution to this senseless crime.
